Every year in Calgary over 500 teens give birth, nearly all choose to keep their babies...and many do so without family support. By giving a donation to Highbanks you can help provide hope to a young mom and her family. We welcome your support!

History

See how Highbanks Society has grown and where our roots began. With support from friends and family and later the community at large Bette Mitchell was ready, willing, and able. She took her motto and enthusiasm and made Highbanks the success it is today.

Chinook Learning Services is the largest provider of high school credit and English-as-a-second language programming in southern Alberta. Chinook Learning Services also offers a wide selection of career certificate courses, customized training for the workplace and personal interest courses. The college specializes in meeting the needs of adult education.

School Programming (Louise Dean Centre)

A program sponsored by Calgary Board of Education for pregnant and parenting students, grades 7 - 12. Current school fees apply and registration is quarterly. Basic curriculum with some options, as well as classes in parenting, pre and postnatal care, health, childcare and development. Eligibility: Pregnant and parenting students, grades 7 - 12.

Elizabeth House (Catholic Pastoral Centre)

Providing a residential program for single, pregnant/parenting teenage girls. Elizabeth House helps young women make positive choices that will benefit them and their children now and in the future by offering a safe and caring home, a holistic life-skills program and appropriate referrals. Catholic faith affiliation is not a requirement. 

Eligibility: Single young women (ages 16 - 23); Pregnant or Parenting (infants - 3 years); Attending a day program - i.e. School, Employment, Volunteer (or open to making these plans).

Emma House provides shelter and support - and a viable option to abortion - to homeless pregnant women.

Leap Project

Struggling with Depression? Feeling withdrawn from friends and family? Dealing with fatigue and low energy? Leap project may be able to help you. It is an online course designed to help youth suffering with depression. Watch videos on youtube, music, books, blogging and more are used as tools to help manage your depression. Information and counseling regarding unplanned pregnancy options includes parenting, abortion and adoption, as well as birth control, sexually transmitted disease and sexual decision making.
