Giving young mothers and their children a chance.
Highbanks provides a place to live. Safe. Stable. Affordable. Highbanks provides a nurturing environment by offering peer and community support. Highbanks promotes continuing education and assists with establishing a career path.
Young mothers and their children are especially vulnerable to the cycle of poverty and homelessness. By providing housing and support, Highbanks assists in stoping this cycle and helps young mothers to reach their full potential.
Highbanks gives hope to these young families by providing:
• Safe, affordable residences
• Access to education and community resources.
• Parenting support and encouragement
• Peer support
We’re growing bigger!
Highbanks would like to thank GIBBS GAGE ARCHITECTS for their AMAZING support with getting our Development Permit, and all the drawings ready for us. We really couldn’t do it without you!
The Highbanks Bowview Apartment Addition and Renovation Plan provides for an additional 1600 sq. ft. of facility space to our existing 5023 sq. ft. building. The additional space would be designated in the following way:
-one additional self-contained unit for young mom and child,
-renovation of existing 1-bedroom units (2) to add an additional bedroom to each,
-addition of a roof-top garden for resident recreation,
-provision of private office space for case management,
-increased programming ‘community’ space,
-increased building security through reconstruction of central entrances,
-increased resident storage.
The Highbanks Board of Directors has deemed this addition/renovation to the Bowview Apartments as vital in the growth of our organization if we are to meet the growing demand for our services.
